The hierarchy and the pay scales of those who are employed by the Archaeological Survey of India are given below. 

· Assistant Archaeologist: Rs 1,640-2,900 per month
· Assistant Superintending Archaeologist: Rs 2,000-3,500 per month
· Deputy Superintending Archaeologist: Rs 2,200-4,000 per month
· Superintending Archaeologist: Rs 3,000-4,500 per month
· Director: Rs 3,700-5,000 per month
· Joint Director: Rs 4,500-5,700 per month
· Additional Director General: Rs 6,000-6,900 per month
· Director General: Rs 7,200 per month
