Examination:


The examination is held generally in the month of June. Blank application forms and other particulars are published in the Employment News generally in the month of December of previous year. The last date for the submission of applications to the Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, New Delhi-110011 is third week of February.

Age: 

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 28 years on the first day of August of the year in which the Examination is being held. The upper age may be relaxed in respect of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and such other categories of persons as may from time to time be notified in this behalf by the Government of India, to the extent and subject to conditions notified in respect of each category. The upper age is also relaxable upto 33 years for departmental candidates.

Reservations: 


Reservations will be made for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes.

Educational Qualifications: 


A candidate must have: 

· Obtained a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or
· Passed Section A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); or
· Obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognized by the Government for the purpose from time to time; or
· Passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (India); or
· Passed Associate Membership Examination Part II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India
passed Associate Membership Examination (Sections A and B) of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (India)
passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959.

Provided that a candidate for the posts of Engineer, Group 'A', in Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing/Monitoring Organization, Ministry of Communications, Indian Broadcasting (Engineers) Service and Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts) may possess any of the above qualifications or the qualification mentioned below, namely,
M.Sc. Degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject. 

Plan of the Examination: 


The examination shall be conducted according to the following plan:

PART I: The written examination will comprise two sections Section I consisting only of objective type questions and Section II of conventional papers. Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines, viz., Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. The details of the written examination, i.e., subjects, duration and maximum marks allotted to each subject are given in the Para 7 below.

PART II:
Personality Test carrying a maximum of 200 marks pertaining; to candidates who qualify on the basis of the written examination.
