  CSIR-UGC Exam. 
CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for Junior Research
Fellowship and Eligibility for Lectureship

 

For the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for determining the eligibility for Lectureship (LS) in Universities and Colleges in subjects falling under the purview of humanities, UGC holds an examination twice a year in the month of June and December respectively. CSIR holds the examination for JRF and lectureship in subjects falling under the faculty of science, in the same two months.

Age Limit: 

The upper age limit for admission to the eligibility Test is as under:

(a) For JRF` Age limit is 28 years as on lst July or 1 st December of the year of examination relaxable upto 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC /ST, physically handicapped, female applicants and three years in case of OBC candidates.

(b) For LS: Candidate above 28 years of age are also eligible for appearing in NET for Lectureship only.

Educational Qualifications: 

· Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in Master's Degree examination in the following or related subjects are eligible for appearing in the joint CSIR-UGC Test (NET).

· A candidate who is appearing/has appeared in the final year of M.Sc./Equivalent Examination can also apply for the Test. Such candidates will have to submit proof of passing the M.Sc. (previous) Exam along with the application. However, such candidates will be considered eligible for JRFs/LS only after they have passed the Master's Degree examination with at least 55% marks in the relevant or related subject within one year from the date of issue of the intimation letter to the successful candidates.

Application Procedure: 

Candidates seeking admission to the Test must apply in the prescribed application form as given in the advertisement in the Employment News.

Plan of the Examination

The test will consist of three papers comprising two separate sessions on the same day.
